CHIMNEY INSPECTIONS

As well as chimney sweeping, we're also able to offer chimney inspections.

How to prepare for a chimney inspection
Prior to a chimney survey, the chimney flue should be swept to remove any soot and debris so the surface of the flue can be clearly veiwed. The area around the fireplace should be cleared to give us space to work.

What we are looking for during a chimney inspection
The things that we are looking for are to check the flue is lined or part lined. Check the flue condition, for any loose mortar that might leak smoke or fumes that may be dangerous by leaking into another part of the property.

Carrying out a chimney inspection
A chimney CCTV check can give you an understanding of the condition of your chimney or liner and is very useful in the following scenarios:
  • In older properties when looking to reinstate a flue that hasn’t been used for a long period time.
  • When purchasing a new property to check if all chimney flues (appear) safe to use in their existing condition.
  • Following a chimney fire, as cracks or any other kind of damage may have developed under the intense heat in the flue.
  • To provide evidence to Insurance Companies on the condition of the flue.
A CCTV inspection can give you an understanding of the condition of your chimney but will not guarantee safety of any chimney. A pressurised test conforming to BSEN 1443 will be required, normally performed by an experienced installer.

CCTV equipment that we use for chimney inspection
The CCTV inspection cameras we use have bright LED lights to view and record our findings if required, with the latest WiFi CCTV equipment we can share snapshots and videos with you directly.

How much do inspections cost?
Basic chimney inspections to check for blockages are available from just £70, with a rough guide price for remedial work such as birds nest removal being around £140.

Chimney Drone Inspections
Drone inspections are becoming a popular choice for external chimney inspections. Using this method of chimney or roof inspection not only saves on the high cost of scaffolding but will also give you clear high definition images on any work that maybe required.

Over burning in an effort to gain more heat will only damage the baffle plate, which will require replacing, it may even result in damaging the liner.

With our WiFi DVR we can take snapshots and share with you.
We're also able to support with drone chimney inspections
